History
The Little Franciscans of Mary founded in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1889 was erected as a diocesan Congregation in 1892, by the R.R. Monsignor L. N. Begin, who was then Bishop of Chicoutimi. The Constitutions of the Institution are based on the Rule of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis Assisi. The Community's Mother house and Novitiate were later transferred to Canada.

Purpose
The Little Franciscans of Mary are engaged in all the works of mercy; they conduct schools, orphanages, homes for the aged, and hospitals, in Canada and in the United States.

Qualifications
• Young girls who have the requisite qualities for Nursing and Teaching are trained according to their ability and talents.
• Other work and household duties are offer ample opportunity for the zeal and piety of the Sisters who are not called to the life of a teacher or nurse.

Habit
The habit consists of a brown tunic and scapular, a white hood and wimple, and a woolen cord; the Professed Sisters wear a silver crucifix.
