History
The Congregation of the of the Mantellate Sisters, Servants of Mary trace their origin back to the ancient Italian city of Pistoia, where they were founded in 1861. Following the Rule and Constitutions established established by St. Juliana Falconieri, the Foundress of the “Mantellate Sisters” in 1282, the Mantellate Sisters, Servants of Mary have spread throughout Italy, and have diffused themselves in the mission fields of Swaziland, South American, and in the United States.


Purpose
Besides aiming at self sanctification through the observance of the three vows, the Congregation has the beautiful and holy mission of compassionating and spreading devotion to the sorrows of Mary. 


Qualifications
• Candidates are received between the ages of 15 and 30.


Habit
The sisters wear a black habit and scapular in honor of the sorrows of Mary; a white close-fitting wimple, a black veil, and a rosary.
