History
The Congregation of the Daughters of Divine Redeemer was founded by the Venerable Mother M. Alphonsa (Elizabeth Eppinger), in 1849, in Alsace Lorraine. The Reverend Foundress had in view at the time only the nursing of the sick as the secondary purpose of the congregation, but the Catholic Hierarchy soon called on the Sisters to take charge of school, and charitable institutions in nearly all the countries of Europe. So it happens, that today, the Daughters of Divine Redeemer are engaged in nursing, teaching, and in the care of the old and orphans.

Purpose
The main purpose of the Congregation of the Daughters of Divine Redeemer is the sanctification of its members by the observance of the Evangelical Counsels and the Constitution of the Institution. The secondary purpose of the Congregation is the practice of fraternal charity in teaching, nursing, and the care of the aged and orphaned.

The junior sisters take part in the active work of the community during the last three years.
